The England U23 korfball team had to settle for 6th place at the World Youth Championships after losing their rematch against Catalonia 13-8.

The Netherlands won the World Youth Korfball Championships after defeating Chinese Taipei 23-11, after the hosts had become the first non-European team to make it to a world final.

The England U23 korfball team produced a great first-half performance against favourites Chinese Taipei but it was not quite enough to secure the win needed to make the semi-finals, as the team eventually went down 17-11.

The England U23 korfball team will face Catalonia for the second time in the tournament, this time for 5th place, after a 13-11 win against the Czech Republic.

England still have an outside chance of the semi-finals after their latest wins against Australia and Catalonia, although will more likely be playing for places 5-8.

Day three of Korfball’s World Youth Championship saw history made in the last match as hosts Chinese Taipei gained a 13-12 victory over four times silver medallists Belgium in a packed Kaohsiung Normal University sports hall.

On October 11th and 12th the NWPA held its end of the year tournament and banquet at The Parlor in Bellevue to a great crowd of players and spectators. The banquet was a great time, full of food and drinks, plus lots of prizes that were raffled off to support the 2009 season.

Singapore – Two female American swimmers Tara Kirk and Kara Lynn Joyce will be coming down to Singapore, to compete in the FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup 2008.
