The Netherlands won the World Youth Korfball Championships after defeating Chinese Taipei 23-11, after the hosts had become the first non-European team to make it to a world final.

In front of an almost full Kaohsiung Normal University indoor stadium, hosts Chinese Taipei had the crowd roaring with the opening goal. However, the Dutch gradually took control due mainly to their better rebounding and awesome shooting from medium to long distance. With a few minutes of the first half left the hosts were still in the match, only 3 behind. However, by half time the Dutch led by 6 (5-11).
In the second period the Dutch rather ran away with the game, opening the gap to 11 in the opening 15 minutes and wrapping up the game with four substitutions and a few more goals. Final score 11-23. Top scorer for the winners was Ilona van den Berg with 9 goals.
Belgium won the bronze medal after defeating Russia 26-10 in the 3rd place playoff.
