Nicol David Begins Fifth Year As World Number One

Italian favourite Flavia Pennetta defeated her fellow compatriot Francesca Schiavone in straight sets to set up a final against Yanina Wickmayer from Belgium who battled against Shahar Peer, eventually winning 64 75. Doubles favourites Black and Huber didnt have an easy semi final but made it through after winning 10-8 in the third set against Pennetta and Schiavone.
