Tennis star Amelie Mauresmo has announced she will be retiring from professional tennis. With the return of Justine Henin looming the world of women’s tennis looked to be much more interesting next season.
However it will have to be so without the 30-year-old French player who has won over 25 titles and has amassed a fortune of over £9 million. As a former world number 1 she is a two-time grand slam champion winning at both Wimbledon and Australia. It seems the game has become too much for her as she announced her decision at a press conference in France.
She said of her departure ‘It's a bit sad but this is the right decision. I was lucky enough to have an exceptional career’
