Frederiksen crowned British Champion

City of Salford's Heather Frederiksen won her third medal of the British
Gas Swimming Championships after swimming to victory in the women's 100m
Freestyle.

The European Champion showed her power through the water to take the
victory and achieve a Paralympic qualification time with a time of
1:08.13.

She won the gold after securing a total of 932 points.

"I was really pleased with that final. A 68.1 is only just outside my PB
of 66.5 so considering the preparation I've had coming into this
competition, I'm really pleased.

"I've managed to get my Paralympic qualifications in the heats and
finals so I'm really pleased with that as well. I've got a day off
tomorrow so I'll probably come in for a bit of training tomorrow and
then it's the 200m IM on the final day.

"It's fantastic to be able to come in and do what I've done off such a
lack of preparation. It's good to be on top of the podium and back in
the mix again and it's really promising for six months time if I get my
selection."

Double Paralympic Champion Eleanor Simmonds won the silver medal with a
swim that saw her claim 925 points. She touched in a time of 1:17.98.

Rhiannon Henry put her name in contention for nomination to
ParalympicsGB after swimming to 1:01.11. She won the bronze medal with
894 points.
