Kim Clijsters is aiming to be the first WC to win a major Grand Slam title after defeating defending champion Serena Williams in straight sets. Williams foot faulted on match point which went down like a lead balloon, tensions were high but clijsters kept her cool. Danish tennis sensation Caroline Wozniaki also won her semi finals match against Yanina Wickmayer in straight sets and faces the former world number one in the final

Middlesex’s Beth Morgan led her side’s successful run chase almost single-handedly here. England T20 World Cup hero Morgan has been dismissed cheaply several times by Cheshire recently, but here her class shone through with an unbeaten 68 from 92 deliveries. Rain stopped play yesterday for the start of the womens semi finals. Play hopefully resumes today with Caroline Wozniacki against Yanina Wickmayer, this match will start at 12:00 midday US time. Serena Williams faces Kim Clijsters in the second match. This match is not to be played before 20:00 US time. Both matches could be moved to The Armstrong Stadium-decision pending.
