In celebration of the two-year countdown to the 2010 Winter Games, the Cultural Olympiad team proudly presents a spectacular gala concert featuring Canada’s new generation of leading singer-songwriters. On February 12, 2008, the venerable Orpheum Theatre will resound with the eclectic blend of edgy acoustic pop, contemporary indie rock, and symphonic soundscapes.

Feist headlines the evening. Feist will appear with her internationally-acclaimed band and will also be joined by the
Vancouver Symphony Orchestra performing world debut orchestral arrangements of a selection of her songs. These arrangements were especially commissioned by the Cultural Olympiad for this performance. On stage, Feist can pivot from being the solo singer captivating a room with her guitar or take on the role of leading a band of world-class musicians. No one, least of all Feist, anticipated the tremendous response listeners around the globe would have to Let It Die, her debut album. Her name has appeared on Best-of-the-Year lists, and she has won numerous awards. Suddenly, a young woman who was an unknown ‘garage punk band vocalist’ in Calgary, had Top-10 radio singles playing around the world. Her sophomore project, The Reminder, is the result of her success on the road – touring for 33 months and covering three continents.
