Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier Make History in Great Britain

Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier won their second Grand Prix gold medal this season Saturday at the MK John Wilson Trophy in Sheffield, Great Britain, becoming the first U.S. pairs team to win multiple Grand Prix events in one season.

 

They also punched their ticket to the Grand Prix Final next month and will be the first pairs team to represent Team USA at the event since 2015.

 

Earlier in the day, Isabeau Levito earned second in the women’s short program, putting her in position to win her second straight Grand Prix medal on Sunday.

Notes:

  • Knierim and Frazier won their second Grand Prix gold of the season, becoming the first U.S. pairs figure skating team to win multiple Grand Prix events in one season (since the Grand Prix series started in 1995).
  • Knierim and Frazier guaranteed their place in the Grand Prix Final next month in Torino, Italy. They will become the first U.S. pairs team to compete at the Grand Prix Final since 2015.
