- 2008-09 season kicks off with Aug. 28-31 event -
Colorado Springs, Colo. (July 25, 2008) – U.S. Figure Skating announced today the skaters it will send to compete in the first event of the 2008 Junior Grand Prix (JGP) of Figure Skating Series, which takes place Aug. 27-30 in Courchevel, France.
The event will be held at the Courchevel 1850 - Le Forum and will begin Thursday, Aug. 28, with the compulsory dance and the ladies and men’s short programs. Official practice will be held Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Eight athletes will represent the United States at the event in three disciplines: ladies, men’s and ice dancing. No pairs competition is being held at the JGP France; pairs is being skated at only four of the eight JGP events this season. The U.S. team hails from seven states: Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Texas and Virginia.
In addition to Courchevel, France, the Junior Grand Prix Series consists of the following events:
