With only days left until the lighting of the Winter Olympics’ flame, the Canadian city of Vancouver is bracing itself for an avalanche of snow stars from all four corners of the globe. Among them are the World’s finest – including 25-year old champion alpine ski racer, Lindsey Vonn, and 24-year old snowboarding sensation, Lindsey Jacobellis.

Both are billed as the ones to watch, and judging by their recent high-adrenaline successes, neither will disappoint. No strangers to the media spotlight, the Lindseys continue to attract seasonal attention as they fly the flag for sports brand Under Armour, whose high performance ColdGear baselayers don’t just keep them warm, but give these ladies the edge, keep them focused, confident and ready for action.

“Under Armour is the perfect fit for me,” says Lindsey Vonn. “I go faster the stronger I get, so for me it’s a clear choice. I race in a paper-thin spandex suit and all I have underneath is my ColdGear keeping me warm. I’d be freezing without it.”

These two professionals are dedicated athletes; their trophy cabinets speak volumes about their sporting passion and commitment.

With 30 World Cup wins across four disciplines (downhill, Super G, slalom and super combined) and two World Championship gold medals, Minnesota-born Vonn has become the most successful American female skier in World Cup history. In 2008, she became the first American woman to win back-to-back overall World Cup championships – a crown she reclaimed in 2009 – and was recently named the US Olympic Committee's 2009 sportswoman of the year, after racking up a record nine World Cup wins in a single season.

Her snowboarding counterpart, Lindsey Jacobellis, hails from Stratton, Vermont, and is one of the most decorated and successful women's snowboarders in the World. At the debut of the Women’s Snowboard Cross event in the 2006 Winter Olympics, Jacobellis took home the silver medal.

Blair Tripodi, Under Armour’s Director, International Marketing, wished both ladies the best of luck in their quests for Olympic Gold:  “It takes dedication to reach this level with such success,” he said. “Their commitment to training is second to none. After seeing them in action there’s no doubt that they are the ones to watch in Vancouver and we’re proud to back them all the way.”

With so much to live up to, the bar’s set high for both, and Under Armour’s pulling out all the stops to support the duo. In addition to a Facebook fan group – search for the ‘Under Armour ColdGear Season’ page – you can check out Lindsay Vonn in training on YouTube. Under Armour giveaways and exclusive content live from Vancouver will also feature on the UKColdGear Twitter page.
