Colorado Springs, Colo. Twelve U.S. synchronized skating teams will compete in six international competitions this winter, highlighted by the reigning World bronze medalist Haydenettes participating in the Mozart Cup in Salzburg, Austria, in late January.
Four teams compete in two events held concurrently Jan. 13–15. California Gold (senior) and Chicago Jazz (junior) take the ice at the Cup of Berlin. In Croatia, a pair of junior teams, the Hockettes and Evolution, will compete at the Zagreb Snowflakes Trophy.
Joining the 18-time U.S. champion Haydenettes in Austria from Jan. 21–23 are the 2010 U.S. junior champion Lexettes. The following week, the Starlights (senior) and Miami University (junior) will take part in the Prague Cup in the Czech Republic.
Team Braemar, which has won back-to-back U.S. junior titles, will join the 2010 U.S. silver medalist Crystallettes at the French Cup in early February. The U.S. entrants at the Spring Cup in Milan, Italy, the following week are Miami University’s senior team and the U.S. junior silver medalist Skyliners.
Two senior teams will be selected at the 2011 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships, March 2–5 in Ontario, Calif., to compete at the 2011 World Synchronized Skating Championships, to be held April 8–9 in Helsinki, Finland.
Two junior teams will compete at the 2011 Synchronized Skating Junior World Challenge Cup in Neuchatel, Switzerland, March 11–13. The selection competition for that event takes place Jan. 7–9 in Fond du Lac, Wis., in conjunction with the 2011 Foot of the Lake Classic.
