Pairs skaters Tarah Kayne and Danny O’Shea have withdrawn from 2017 Cup of China, U.S. Figure Skating announced Friday.
Kayne and O’Shea are withdrawing to focus on continued rehabilitation and training after Kayne’s right knee injury last season.
Ashley Cain and Timothy LeDuc have been invited to compete at 2017 Cup of China. It will mark Cain and LeDuc’s debut on the International Skating Union’s (ISU) Grand Prix Series. Last season, the Texas-based pair finished third at the U.S. Championships and were part of the United States’ bronze medal performance at the World Team Trophy event in April.
The event, which is the third of six events on the ISU’s Grand Prix of Figure Skating series, takes place in Beijing from Nov. 3-5. In all, Team USA will be represented by 12 skaters at the event.
