Samsung ISU World Cup Short Track Salt Lake City (USA) 8-10 February 2008
The Korean and Chinese teams had a second consecutive weekend of impressive performances. The Korean team left Salt Lake City with 10 medals, while the Chinese team took 8 medals. The team of the United States of America imitated what their Canadian counterparts managed the previous weekend, and took advantage of home ice and local spectator support. The team of the United States earned an impressive 6 medals this weekend. The schedule of races at this weekend’s Samsung ISU World Cup Short Track had the athletes compete in the 500 meters distance twice.
The ladies 500 meters events were dominated by the skaters from China, who earned four podium places. The first of the ladies 500 meters event was won by Meng Wang of China. With her win, she clinched her second consecutive first place ranking in this distance in the World Cup series. Her teammate Nannan Zhao finished second, while Australian Tatiana Borodulina took third, earning her first individual World Cup podium of the season.
