WHISTLER, Canada – May 3, 2007 – Whistler based Prior Snowboard Manufactory Ltd, known throughout the world as manufacturers of premium, handcrafted snowboards and skis, is pleased to announce the newest additions to its snowboard line up for Winter 2008 – the Spearhead and Split Spearhead.
“The Spearhead models are a combination of the best features of our other big-mountain and powder snowboards,” comments Founder, Chris Prior. “From open bowls to tight trees the Spearhead shines, providing unmatched trim and float in the powder as well as handling icy steeps and other variable conditions with ease. We are surrounded by some of the biggest mountain terrain in the world. The Spearhead is another chapter in our quest to make the best big mountain snow-riding products available. We named it after a mountain range just a few miles from our shop.”
Record snowfall in Prior’s home base of Whistler during the 06/07 season has provided the perfect testing ground for the Spearhead. More than 20 test boards were made through all the sizes and demoed hundreds of times by various ‘testers’ to determine the best overall combination of shape, flex and size.
One of the keys to the Spearhead occurs in front of the rider’s feet. Its defined, gradually up-sloping tip only looks old-school; in reality it provides improved floatation and drive compared with standard boards without exceptional nose width. This same shape reduces front end edge grab, thus allowing effortless transition from edge-to-edge creating a more predictable, responsive ride in soft and hard pack conditions.
Other components of the Spearhead’s magic result from its moderate taper, sidecut, rounded tail shape and overall flex pattern. Each of these features is balanced to provide a powerful, stable ride that still turns with ease through all winter snow conditions and terrain.
For Winter 2008 Prior offers the Spearhead in both solid and splitboard versions. The Solid Spearhead retails at C$699 and the Split Spearhead retails at C$1199 (Voile kit & skins included). Both are available at www.priorsnowboards.com and through select Prior specialty dealers.
