MONT SAINTE-ANNE, QC (March 20th, 2008) –
The Pontiac GMC Canadian Championships Ladies GS in Mont Sainte Anne also remains on the schedule tomorrow.
Ladies 2010 Acceleration Team member Kelly McBroom (Canmore, AB) picked up the first national championship title of her career yesterday, winning a super combined race in Mont Sainte Anne.
McBroom won the race, which replaced a super combined that was cancelled earlier this season in Whistler, BC, in a two-run combined time of two minute 09.00 seconds. Emilie Desforges (Montréal, QC) finished second, 0.44 seconds back, followed by Georgia Simmerling (West Vancouver, BC) in third.
“I am pretty excited about skiing well and winning a national title. I knew that I had to go for it against some tough competition and I was fortunate to take advantage of having an early bib number,” said McBroom, who was the fifth racer to leave the start gate in the opening run.
“I am still young, with one more season as a junior remaining. I have similar expectations for next season and hopefully after that I will work toward moving up to the senior team,” McBroom said about her ski racing career.
The Pontiac GMC Canadian Championships will be showcased at Le Relais, QC Saturday and Sunday with a Provincial Dual slalom race also taking place at 4 p.m. Saturday.
At the end of each Pontiac GMC Canadian Championship race, a satellite feed will be made available.
