Colorado Springs, Colo. (September 22, 2008) - Individual tickets for the 2009 U.S. Figure Skating Championships go on sale Saturday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m. EST. The competition, which will take place Jan. 18-25 in Cleveland, Ohio, will showcase the best skaters in the United States.
The 2009 U.S. Championships will feature competition in ladies, men’s, pairs and ice dancing. Approximately 250 skaters competing at the novice, junior and senior levels are expected to participate in the weeklong event, which will be held at the Quicken Loans Arena.
The event concludes Jan. 25 with the Skating Spectacular, which features theatrical, show-skating performances from the top finishers in all three levels.
Expected competitors include two-time reigning five-time U.S. ice dancing champions Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto; reigning U.S. pairs champions Keauna McLaughlin and Rockne Brubaker; and reigning U.S. ladies champion Mirai Nagasu.
Past medalists of the U.S. Championships include Kristi Yamaguchi, Peggy Fleming, Debi Thomas.
