ICENETWORKCOM “WORLD FIGURE SKATER RANKINGS RELEASED

Colorado Springs, Colo. (Jan. 29, 2008) – After a holiday hiatus, the icenetwork.com World Figure Skater Rankings have returned with numerous position changes.

Ladies

Italy’s Carolina Kostner and Switzerland’s Sarah Meier both benefited from their podium finishes at the European Championships last week in Zagreb, Croatia. Kostner and Meier finished first and second, respectively, which translated into two-place jumps for both. New to the rankings are Finland’s Laura Lepisto and Italy’s Valentina Marchei, who appear following their top-10 finishes at the European Championships.

Pairs

The biggest move of the week came from Stacey Kemp and David King of Great Britain. Kemp and King’s gold-medal win at the British Championships combined with their sixth-place finish at the European Championships catapulted the pair six positions to 13th. The debut of Italy’s Laura Magitteri and Ondrej Hotarek in the top 20 is a result of their 11th-place finish at the European Championships.

Ice Dancing

Great Britain’s Sinead Kerr and John Kerr won their fifth straight national title at the British Championships, an achievement that boosted them four spots to ninth. Alexandra Zaretski and Roman Zaretski took home eighth place at the European Championships, allowing the team to enter the top 20 at 17th.

A skater or team’s ranking is determined by the total points accumulated since the 2005-06 season. This points-based system takes into account both national and international competitions. Skaters not competing in the 2007-08 season will not be considered for the rankings. More information about the criteria for ranking can be found on icenetwork.com. The icenetwork.com World Figure Skater Rankings will be updated on icenetwork.com each Monday.
