| VALMALENCO, Italy (March 15) - U.S. Snowboarding picked up two podiums in the final World Cup of the season Saturday. Michelle Gorgone (Boston) had a career best Saturday finishing second in the parallel giant slalom finale in Valmalenco. It seemed that it was getting worse since the Olympics," Gorgone said. "It's cool to get a good result at the end of the season. I hope I continue like this in the next one. It was kind of my day. My coaches said that I could do it and it just worked out.” In the women's competition, Anke Karstens of Germany finished first and Claudia Riegler, who was third in the PGS snowboard World Cup standings, finished third. Women's PGS standings wrapped up with Gorgone in 20th with 1,579 points, and Erica Mueller (Steamboat Springs, CO) in 34th with 718.
