Elena finishes third in La Molina

LA MOLINA, Spain (March 14) - It was a successful day for U.S. Snowboarding's halfpipe pro (Breckenridge, CO) Elena Hight (South Lake Tahoe, CA) finishing third for the women during a World Cup in Spain.

"We're super proud of everyone," U.S. Snowboarding Halfpipe Head Coach Mike Jankowski said. "They put everything they had into this contest and we got the results."

In the women's competition, Norwegian Kjersti Buaas took the lead followed by Jiayu Liu of China in second. Hight landed a run of backside air, frontside five, backside five, frontside air, backside air, frontside nine to take third for the first World Cup podium of her career.

"I'm stoked, for sure. I've never done well in a World Cup before," Hight said. "I was a little bit surprised. It's been an amazing trip."

Following Hight was Ellery Hollingsworth (Stratton, VT) in fourth.

As far as Jankowski is concerned, the day was a success for U.S. Snowboarding.


The riders now head to Vermont for the Burton Open in Stratton.
