WHITEFACE, USA (March 15th, 2008) – Emilie Desforges (Montréal, QC) finished second today as the Ladies Coupe Nor-Am Cup season came to an end with the final Ladies giant slalom race in Whiteface, New York.
Desforges picked up her third podium finish in five races at Nor-Am Finals, finishing with a two-run combined time of two minutes 19.35 seconds.
American Megan McJames had the fastest time in both runs to grab the victory, finishing in 2:18.49.
In the critical overall giant slalom standings, McJames moved up from third place into first with today’s result, ending the season with a total of 270 points in the giant slalom standings. McJames’ teammate Leanne Smith finished third in today’s race which was good enough to hold onto second in the overall GS standings.
The top two in each discipline on the Nor-Am Cup are awarded World Cup spots the following season.
The Coupe Nor-Am Cup comes to an end tomorrow with another Men’s giant slalom. Julien Cousineau (Lachute, QC) currently sits first overall in the Men’s GS standings with 280 points followed by American Jake Zamansky who has 252. Scott Barrett (Toronto, ON) is also in the hunt for one of the top two spots. He enters tomorrow’s race in fifth position with 196 points.
