Olympian Emily Cook (Boston) was the top American finishing just off the podium in fourth, in Sunday’s aerials World Cup at Mont Gabriel. Cook led a U.S. surge.
Cook and 2010 FIS Rookie of the Year Ashley Caldwell (Charleston, SC) were the two U.S. skiers who made finals. Both women competed with the same trick, a full double full. Caldwell swept a pair of NorAm wins with the same jump a week ago.
In the finals, Caldwell was fast on the approach which led to a missed landing, earning her a 10th place finish. Cook, despite having a form break in her jumps, still earned fourth.
"It was exciting. Two solid jumps, not the best that I can do, but it still gives me confidence going into the other events this season," said a very happy Cook.
"This is something we can build on and is a real confidence builder going towards Worlds," said Ossian on the Team's overall performance.
Aerials competition resumes next weekend, Jan. 21, in Lake Placid, NY at the Nature Valley Freestyle Cup. World Championships are scheduled for Feb. 2-4 at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, UT.
