Britain’s top female skier Chemmy Alcott returns to racing on Thursday, January 22, less than two months after suffering a fractured ankle. She will compete in the FIS World Cup Downhill, Super G and Giant Slalom events at Cortina in Italy.
Following an intense rehabilitation programme, the British Champion hopes to give a good performance this week, and is determined to be back on top form to compete at the World Ski Championships in Val d’Isere from 3-15 February.
At Cortina, she will compete in the Super G on Thursday, the Downhill races on Friday and Saturday and close with the Giant Salom on Sunday, January 25.
Chemmy said: “I am really pleased to be back competing. The team and I have been working really hard since November to get me back to this level, and while I am not 100 per cent yet, I am determined to give it my absolute best. Now that I am back, my main goal is to be fully fit and ready to go for it at the World Championships in February.”
British Alpine Ski Team Head Coach, Mark Tilston commented: “Training has been going well. Chemmy is very focused on taking the correct steps in order to get back to competition. Her discipline has been good in not pushing too hard in order to ensure that a full recovery is the priority and she knows that her full form will return once her ankle is fully healed and she gets some more skiing and competition under her skis”.
