Coupe Nor-Am Cup season begins with two slaloms in Colorado
LOVELAND/WINTERPARK, USA (December 2, 2008) – The Canadian Alpine Ski Team kicked off the Coupe Nor-Am Cup season with Goodman claiming a podium finish in the slalom race in Colorado.
Anna Goodman (Pointe Claire, QC) stepped on the podium with a third place finish in the slalom race at Winter Park, Colorado, despite facing some harsh snow conditions in her second run.
Goodman was in second after the first run but had to deal with softening snow for the second run.
“My first run was pretty good as I was able to get a pretty good result. The second run was a different story. I am not as happy with it. I held up too many times and the snow conditions were really soft,” said Goodman after the race.
Germany’s Susanne Riesch came in first, posting a time of 1:38.73 while American racer Sterling Grant came in second trailing Riesch by 0.53 second.

Meanwhile, Marie-Michèle Gagnon (Lac Etchemin, QC), in her first race in more than a year and half, was the second-best Canadian with at 14th place finish in the ladies race.
The Coupe Nor-Am Cups continues in Colorado tomorrow with the presentation of slalom races for both genders at the same location of today’s race.
