Anderson Wins Dew Tour Slopestyle

In spite of more fresh powder falling all across Colorado, Dew Tour athletes were charging the slopetyle snowboarding course with Jamie Anderson (South Lake Tahoe, CA) taking the win in Breckenridge Sunday.

Slopetsyle snowboarding, along with slopetsyle skiing and halfpipe skiing, is one of three events being considered by the International Olympic Committee for inclusion in the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. Slopestyle snowboarding will be added for the first time to World Championships in La Molina, Spain in Janurary.

"I think from when I started at the Sierra Tahoe team we learned everything from just riding the mountain to riding park, pipe, slalom, GS and everything," Anderson said. "I definitely do think it plays a huge part in me just being able to ride and know how to get speed and push myself."

Anderson threw a backside 180 to switch backside 180, a backside 360 and a frontside 360 to land a score that put her nearly 10 points ahead of the women's field.

Charlotte van Gils of the Netherlands finished second for the women and Cheryl Maas, also from the Netherlands, was third.
