 Celebrating 50 successive victories in all competitions – reigning FIVB Swatch World Tour champions Juliana and Larissa of Brazil | Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, January 30, 2010 – The 2010 FIVB Swatch World Tour champions, Juliana Felisberta and Larissa Franca, claimed their 50th successive victory in all competitions as the world number one women's team won the second leg of the Banco do Brasil Beach Volleyball Tour held on the internationally famous sands of Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.
With this victory, Juliana and Larissa also secured their 10th straight tournament win. "We do not focus on improving these records, but of course it is important doing it as winning matches and tournaments will take us to our goals," Larissa said. "We work hard for that and the results come. Our aim is to be better than we were yesterday."
The duo overcame Vivian Cunha and Taiana Lima 2-0 (21-18, 21-11) to take the highest spot on the podium. Talita Antunes and Maria Antonelli finished third after defeating Izabel Bezerra and Elize Maia 2-0 (21-14, 21-11).
Rio de Janeiro also hosted the U-21 Banco do Brasil Tour, where Rebecca Silva and Carolina Horta won their second straight title by defeating Natalia Font and Carol Pereira 2-0 (21-17, 21-15). In the men's competition, Ramon Ferreira and Anderson Melo claimed their first title after a 2-0 (29-27, 24-22) victory over Felipe Terra and Marcio Ley.
The city of Guaruja, stage of the FIVB Swatch World Tour in 2000 and 2008, will host the third of the 12 stops of the Brazilian National Tour from February 10-13. |
