The archer from Moldavia (no. 61) made life difficult for the no. 1 qualifier from Korea. After 6 arrows the two archers were tied at 53 pts. One could think that Buliga had lost all hope when she shot a 7 with her seventh arrow... However, she went on with 10-10-8-9-X10 to finish with a total of 107. Yun had to work hard (X10-8-9-9-10-9) to win the match by only 1 point (108).
1st round: NICHOLS Jennifer (USA) - PILIPOVA Olga (KAZ)
No real danger for no. 13 Nichols against no. 52 Pilipova! With 10-X10-9-10-9-8 (56) the American had a 2-point advantage at the half-way mark (9-10-8-10-9-8/54 for her opponent from Kazakhstan). Pilipova dug her own grave when she shot a 6 at the seventh arrow... Finishing with 10-9-9-9-9-8 Nichols won the match by 9 points (110-101).
2nd round: HAYAKAWA Nami (JPN) - WU Hui Ju (TPE)
The Japanese girl already lost the match in the first end when she shot two 7s at her fifth and sixth arrows. She trailed by 2 at that time (53-55). In the second half of the match Wu shot 8-9-10-9-8-8 (107) and clinched victory after her opponent scored 9-9-9-7-9-8 (104).
2nd round: NICHOLS Jennifer (USA) - ERDYNIYEVA Natalya (RUS)
Reversal of situation in this match between Nichols and Erdyniyeva! The American had the best start with 10-10-9-9-7-9 (54). Her opponent from Russia trailed by 2 at that time (X10-9-8-9-8-8/52). However, with a 7 at her penultimate arrow (9-10-9-9-7-8), Nichols handed victory to Erdyniyeva on a plate... The Russian finished with 10-10-9-8-9-10 to clinch the match 108-106.
2nd round: KOVAL Victoria (UKR) - MOSPINEK Justyna (POL)
Another tight match in this second round! Mospinek led by 1 point after six arrows. She started with X10-X10-10-10-8-7 (55) while Koval scored 10-10-9-9-9-7 (54). In the second half the Ukrainian picked up her level with X10-X10-10-10-9-8 to finish with a 111-point total. Her opponent from Poland could only shoot one 10 and five 9s and lost the match by the shortest possible difference (110-111).
3rd round: ERDYNIYEVA Natalya (RUS) - YUN Ok Hee (KOR)
The Russian totally missed her entry into this match! With 6-9-7-7-8-8, she had only 45 pts after six arrows. Her opponent from Korea did not need this kind of present... She shot 10-9-10-8-10-9 (56) and led by 9 pts. The second half of the match would not change anything and Yun easily qualified to the next round (115-98).

Quarter-final: VALEEVA Natalia (ITA) - KWAK Ye Ji (KOR)
Valeeva (no. 3) trailed by 1 point after the first end of three arrows (28-29). She then managed to tie her opponent from Korea (no. 6) at the half-way mark thanks to two 10s and a 9 (57-57). In the third end Kwak again took a 1-point advantage: 9-X10-X10 (86) versus 10-8-X10 (85) for Valeeva. However, the 2007 World Champion from Italy managed to recover one more time. With 10-9-9 (113) she tied at the end of the match (10-9-8 for Kwak). In the shoot-off the two ladies shot 9 and had to continue. The second tie-breaker was an 8 for both. It seemed there was no way they would decide on the winner... However, Kwak made her effort at the very last shoot-off arrow and hit the 10 ring. Valeeva could only shoot an 8 and let victory escape her.
Quarter-final: KOVAL Victoria (UKR) - JOO Hyun Jung (KOR)
The best start was for Joo the no. 2 qualifier who shot 10-9-8 (27). Seeded no. 23 Koval scored 9-8-8 (25) with her first three arrows and trailed by 2. However, the Ukrainian came back in the second end thanks to an X10-X10-8 series (53). The score was tied after Joo shot 8-9-9 (53). Then the Korean shot a triple 9 and let her opponent take the lead with 9-10-9 (81-80 for Koval). In the last end both archers shot 28 pts and Koval kept her short lead to create an upset (109-108)! "For me it's good", she said. "I wasn't scoring, so I didn't realize the result until the end. It was really good!"
Semi-final: PARK Sung-Hyun (KOR) - YUN Ok Hee (KOR)
A new World Record for Yun in this 100% Korean match! The winner of the 2008 second World Cup stage in Porec qualified no. 4 here in Antalya. She faced her no. 1 seeded teammate and Olympic Champion, Park, in the semi-final. Yun had started with X10-9-10 taking a 1-point lead after three arrows (29-28). Park shot a 7 at her fifth arrow and trailed by 6 after her opponent shot perfectly (10-X10-10) in the second end. Yun finished the match with six 10s to beat the World Record for a 12-arrow match with the almost perfect score of 119 (the previous record was held since 2001 by another Korean with 118). "I wasn't thinking about it. I was only shooting", the new record holder said. "Very, very good", she smiled. Her fellow countrywoman Park did not shoot well all the way through the match and finished with a poor 106-point score.
Semi-final: KOVAL Victoria (UKR) - KWAK Ye Ji (KOR)
After defeating a Korean in the previous round, the Ukrainian Koval (no. 23) was full of confidence starting her semi-final against Kwak (no. 6). She had a great start with X10-10-9 (29) and took a 4-point lead after three arrows (7-9-9/25 for Kwak). Her Korean contender recovered 2 pts and trailed 53-55 at the half-way mark. The difference did not change after nine arrows, as both shot a triple 9 in the third end (82-80 in favour of Koval). The surprising Ukrainian doubled her advantage again with her last three arrows shooting 9-X10-9 (110) while the Korean shot 8-9-9 (106). "I'm happy, really happy", Koval said after her victory. "I beat another Korean and Saturday, I will face one more Korean. I hope to shoot well."
