The 19th Women's World Championship is coming on 5 to 20 December 2009 in China with a total of 24 teams taking part.

The European qualification games have been played over the past weekend. The second leg of the play-off matches decided which teams can join Norway, Spain (directly qualified from the EHF EURO 2008) and Russia (defending champion) from Europe.
Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Sweden and Ukraine have successfully completed this round and secured their places at the Final Tournament.
The draw for the Final Tournament will be carried out on 15 July 2009 in the IHF Head Office, Basel.
