The 193cm tall player is attending her first World Championships and has impressed so far, scoring 24 points, 15 from spikes and six from blocks, making her one of her side’s top scorers. “I’m trying to give 100 percent to help the team, it’s not easy but every day I give my best to help the team’s cause, which is to go as far as possible in this tournament,” she said on Sunday. “The World Championships is one of the greatest moments in my life. It’s a great honour to participate.” The 2009 European League winners have already secured passage to the Second Round following three wins over Costa Rica, Poland and Peru and will play Algeria on Tuesday and hosts Japan in their final First Round match on Wednesday. Despite having a very young squad, Rasic is confident her side will progress further in Japan. “They are very helpful and we are all very close because we are all very young. We hope we can do Serbia proud with our performance,” she concluded. |
