The team and coaching staff were received at Château Les Tourelles by FIVB Volleyball Events Department and former Italian National Team setter Piero Rebaudengo. They were given a tour of the facilities, including the Board Room and Volleyball Events Department.
Brazil coach and Men's Olympic gold medalist Ze Roberto, who played against Rebaudengo in the 1980s in the Italian Serie A League, said he was looking forward to seeing how his team would perform at the Montreux tournament after a major restructuring of the squad following its gold-medal performance at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
"I am really enjoying coaching this new team," Ze Roberto said. "It's a new challenge since it's a completely different squad from the one that won the Olympics."
Brazil is in Pool A at the eight-nation tournament along with China, Germany and Poland. Pool B consists of defending champions Cuba, Japan, Italy and the Netherlands.
The Brazilians won their opening match in straight sets against Germany on Tuesday. Their next match is slated for Thursday against China. |
