Womens Beach Volleyball-Colombia stay on Olympic path with Paraguay win

Aratoca, Colombia, October 15, 2010 – Colombia's women secured qualification for the next stage of the CSV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup on Thursday after beating Paraguay twice in Aratoca so keeping their London 2012 Olympic Games hopes alive.


The competition, which is being contested by 10 South American countries, acts as one of the routes to the Games.
 

Colombian duo Dalgis Villalobos and Kelly Medina easily beat Paraguay's Bethany Hair and Katrin Thiede in the first match 2-0 (21-16, 21-8).before sisters Andrea and Claudia Galindo, the Colombian champions, overcame Yghirda Patricia and Sanabria Knight in straight sets (21-12, 21-16).
 

"We are very happy to have won the game 4-0 and guaranteed a spot in the next stage," Andrea Galindo said after the second match. "Now we are going to play the next phase of the South American Beach Volleyball Tournament and we are going to prepare for the second stage of the Continental Cup. We continue to believe in the Olympic dream."
