ROLLER DERBY IN MUSIC VIDEO
Roller derby and rock-and-roll has always had a good relationship, but rarely do you get to see the two go physically one-on-one. Local rock quartet The Redwalls have released a new music video featuring Chicago's own Windy City Rollers all-women's flat track roller derby team. The video for their second single "Game of Love," is available on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=1KiEa6Iv2H8. The four members of the Deerfield, Illinois-based band were filmed alongside nearly 50 skaters, staff, and volunteers of the Windy City Rollers in the league's practice space on the Near West Side of Chicago. The video, produced and directed by Leigh Jones and Ruth Leitman, features the band plunked in the middle of a raucous roller derby bout. Skaters zoom past, steal instruments from, and playfully pummel the band members trying to play their love ballad "Game of Love," only to be showered by the melody's irresistible affections. The video came just in time for the band's appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on April 10th.
