The new teams are: The New York Nemesis, The Memphis Belles, The H-Town Cyclones (Houston), The Arizona Wildfire, The New Jersey Titans, The Dayton Diamonds, The Indianapolis Chaos, The Kansas City Storm, The Modesto Magic, The Los Angeles Amazons, The North Texas Rage (Dallas), The West Virginia Wonders (Charleston) and the Minnesota Vixen. The Vixen is one of the longest established teams in all of women's football having played for ten seasons.
Joining these new teams are: The Alabama Renegades, The Austin Outlaws, The Baltimore Burn, The Chattanooga Locomotion, The Cincinnati Sizzle, The Cleveland Fusion, The Columbus Comets, The Connecticut Crush, The Emerald Coast Barracudas (Panama City), The Erie Illusion, The Ft. Wayne Flash, The Gulf Coast Herricanes (Mobile) The Kentucky Karma, The Maine Freeze, The New Orleans Blaze, The OKC Lightning, The Pensacola Power, The Philadelphia Phoenix, The Phoenix Prowlers, The St. Louis Slam, The Treetown Spitfire (Ann Arbor) and the West Michigan Mayhem.
"We think this season is going to be pretty exciting with all of the new and experienced teams competing. Many of these teams have never played each other so the competition should be tough," states league CEO Catherine Masters.
Many teams are already signing up to play in the 2009 season including the Jacksonville Dixie Blues, the Pittsburgh Force, The Ventura Black Widows and a new team located in Marshall, Texas.
