Hilary Witt (Lowell, Mass.) and Bobby Jay (Burlington, Mass.) have been named assistant coaches for the U.S. Women's National Team that will compete at the 2011 Four Nations Cup from Nov. 9-13, in Nyköping, Sweden, it was announced today by USA Hockey. Witt and Jay join head coach Katey Stone (Arlington, Mass.) on the coaching staff of Team USA.
Witt is entering her second season as an assistant women's ice hockey coach at Northeastern University after serving as the head women's ice hockey coach at Yale University for eight years. She coached at the 2011 USA Hockey Women's National Festival and 2011 Under-18 Series, serving as an assistant coach for the U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team. Witt was also an assistant coach for the U.S. Women's National Team the captured the gold medal at the 2011 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship, and for the U.S. Women's National Team that finished second at the 2010 Four Nations Cup.
Jay is serving on his first U.S. Women's National Team staff. He coached at the 2011 USA Hockey Women's National Festival. Previously, Jay served as an assistant coach of Harvard University's men's ice hockey team, a position he held from 2009-11 and 2004-06. He has also served as an assistant coach with the Tampa Bay Lightning's International Hockey League affiliate, the Detroit Vipers, and with the Los Angeles Kings' American Hockey League affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs.
Witt and Jay will join Stone at a U.S. Women's National Team Program camp in Hamden, Conn., from Nov. 1-6, prior to departing for Nyköping for the Four Nations Cup.
