Two big ITU Winter Triathlon events took to the snow this past weekend in Italy and the United States. Mt.Bachelor in Bend, Oregon hosted the 2008 ITU Pan American Winter Triathlon Championships, an event that also doubled as USA Triathlon’s National Championships.
Heather Best lived up to her name and dominated the elite women’s event, winning by more than four minutes over Bend’s own Sarah Max. Karen DeWolfe took the bronze.

Also on the weekend, the 2008 Flassin ITU Winter Triathlon World Cup was successfully staged in Italy. The host city of last year’s ITU Winter Triathlon World Championships once again proved to be gracious hosts for the top winter triathletes.
