Samokov (BUL), May 8-9, 2009
LAUSANNE (SUI), FIG Office, May 5, 2009: From May 8 – 9, 2009, the Bulgarian Federation of Sports Acrobatics is organising the 3rd ACRO International Tournament for Clubs “For the Mayor’s Cup”, an international competition that is well on its way to becoming a traditional event.
This year more than 200 competitors from 23 Clubs are expected from Belgium, France, Great Britain, Germany, Israel, the Netherlands and Bulgaria.
Organised the same year as the European ACRO Championships, the event is a “control group” competition of sorts for most of these athletes. The National Teams of France, Great Britain and Bulgaria will participate with extended compositions.
The 1st and 2nd editions of the tournament were hosted by the Municipality of Gabrovo, after which the event moved to the Arena Samokov, the newest multi sports hall in Bulgaria, in 2009. The venue has a seating capacity of 2,500 and additional training halls. The public will be admitted free of charge for the purpose of promoting Acrobatic Gymnastics in Europe.
All participants will be accommodated in the 4-star Samokov Hotel in Borovetz, the largest mountain resort in Bulgaria situated at 1,350 m altitude at the foot of Mussala peak. They will enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Bulgarian outdoors in the comfort of modern sport facilities.
