It was business as usual when the Oregon PAC-12 Conference members visited the John  Wooden Center to play the UCLA Bruins in women’s volleyball.  The first match-up for the sixth-ranked Bruins was the unranked Oregon State Beavers.  Oregon State’s 11-7 overall record  and 3-5 conference record indicated that UCLA won both should have a clear advantage – especially on their home court where the Bruins were undefeated in the 2011 season ,  The Bruins responded as expected with  a 3-0 sweep: 25-14, 25-17, 25-14.  Oregon State was totally dominated; only in the second set did they show a hint of a serious competition. .  UCLA’s record improved to 15-3 overall and 8-2 in the PAC-12. On the following evening, UCLA faced the 16th-ranked Oregon Ducks were the next opponent.  With a 12-4 overall record and 5-4 in PAC-12 action, the Ducks were considered more competitive but still a team that UCLA should defeat.  UCLA prevailed in a fairly close first set 25-21.  Oregon took the second set 25-22.  Oregon had a 19-16 lead in the third set but was overtaken by a 6-0 run by the Bruins.  The Ducks never led again in the set and succumbed at 25-23.  The fourth set was also competitive but the Bruins were on a mission and closed out the Ducks 25-19.  Double-digit kill leaders in the match for UCLA were Rachel Kidder (17) AND Tabi Love (16).  Oregon actually produced a more balanced attack lead by Alaina Bergsma (14). Liz Brenner (13), Katherine Fischer (11) and Arianna Williams (11).
