NEW YORK (WNBA) - They may be hamstrung by injuries but the Minnesota Lynx are yet to taste defeat in the WNBA this season courtesy of some sizzling displays from USA national team star Maya Moore who has grabbed herself a slice of league history.
Likely to be one of the stars for her country at the FIBA World Championship for Women later this year, Moore has held the hot-hand ever since the league tipped off.
The 24-year-old has propelled her depleted team to four victories in as many games for an impressive unbeaten start to the season - much to the delight of new USA assistant coach and Lynx play-caller, Cheryl Reeve.
"We've got the biggest band-aid in maybe the history of the league right now," said Reeve after Moore became the first player in WNBA history to score 30 points or more in four successive outings.
“Maya just took her place at the top of some of the greatest players ever."
During her purple patch, Moore racked up 34 points against the Washington Mystics, 33 points against the Connecticut Sun, a career-high 38 points against the Tulsa Shock and 30 points in her last appearance against the New York Liberty.
"She's obviously playing on a really high level right now," said her team-mate and USA national team colleague Lindsay Whalen.
"She's hitting her threes. She's making a lot of other things happen.
"Maya's done a great job this whole year really just being a great leader and making things happen.
"When you see someone on a roll like that it's always good."
As for the player herself, she was quick to pay tribute to her team-mates.
"It's not all me," insisted Moore with a sizeable dose of modesty.
"It's all a team aggression. I just try to set the tone."
Meanwhile The Chicago Sky are the only other team with a flawless record and much of that has been down to Elena Delle Donne, who continues to cement her burgeoning reputation as one of the leading lights of the WNBA.
She poured in 27 points to take down The Atlanta Dream and ensure her team continues riding high at the top of the Eastern Conference.
