The match between Canada and England started late and then was immediately held up when an injury to lock Charlotte Wild on England required a stretcher to remove her in the first minute of play.

When the game restarted the strong England pack set the table for a big run by fullback Emily Scarrat, who after getting thinned down to the edge gave a crafty pass to spring wing Sam Bree for the try.

Scarrat then slotted an impressive touchline conversion to put England into an early 7-0 lead.

Scarrat contributed in a big way ten minutes later, finishing a strong England attack with flair as an overlap developed sending her across on clean heels under the posts.

She converted her own effort for a 14-0 England lead.

Scarrat scored her second of the evening with seven minutes to go until half, bulling her way like a lock forward rather than a fullback, a handful of would be Canadian tacklers unable to bring her to a halt.

She missed her own conversion attempt, but England were well in the lead at 19-0.

The Canadian defense began to fragment - with a misplayed ball landing into English hands leading to quick hands by England to wing Natasha Hunt. The try went unconverted but the scoreboard told the story at 24-0 at the half.

The second half saw England go off the boil, including a yellow card to Hannah Field, who left the field for repeated infringements on a team basis at the breakdown.

Canada's patience finally paid off late in the half - as Jacey Murphy scored as the Canadian scrum pushed across for an emotional try. The whole Canadian team ran back to assume their receiving positions, as they awaited for the conversion kick, which was wide to make it 24-5 to England.

The exuberance was short-lived as a revitalized England came roaring back the length of the field, with replacement forward Charlotte Male thundering across for her team's fifth try. Scarrat converted and England held a commanding 31-5 advantage.

It was the final refrain from a well drilled England side - who have firmly thrown down the gauntlet for this first ever U20 Nation's Cup.
