Sanya Richards, Allyson Felix, Lolo Jones avenged their performances in Beijing Friday by winning their respective events at the 2008 Weltklasse Zurich, the fifth IAAF Golden League Meet of the season. In the women's 400 meters, Beijing bronze medalist Sanya Richards was out quickly and had the lead heading into the final straight, much like she did in the Olympic final. However, in Zurich, Richards extended her lead over the final 100m to win in a season best 49.74. 2008 Olympic 4x400m gold medalist Mary Wineberg was fifth in 51.53. Two-time Olympic silver medalist and World Outdoor champion Allyson Felix won the women's 200m in 22.37, holding off 2004 Olympic 100m silver medalist Lauryn Williams who finished second in 22.68. 2008 World Indoor champion Lolo Jones reaffirmed her position atop the women's 100m hurdles, winning in Zurich in 12.56. Olympic champion Dawn Harper finished sixth in 12.73. |
