A trio of English student golfers – Jodi Ewart, Hannah Burke and Olivia Jordan-Higgins – are celebrating impressive results on the US women’s college circuit.
Jodi, 21, from Catterick in Yorkshire, has just become Mountain West Women's Conference Player of the Year – and the first player to win this title for three years in a row.
She took the title after finishing fourth in the conference championship – which she had won for the past two years. Jodi has scores of 74, 73 and 78 at Black Horse Golf Club, Seaside in California and helped the University of New Mexico to win the team prize.
Jodi is the English strokeplay champion and was in the 2008 Curtis Cup team. During this US college year she’s had two wins among six top-five finishes.
Hannah Burke from Mid-Herts, has just been named as the Big 12 Conference Golfer of the Month for a number of high-placed finishes.
During March, Hannah had a scoring average 76 while leading the Lady Bears to one tournament title and to a third place team finish. She also claimed an individual third place for her seventh top-five finish of her college career.
Hannah immediately followed up with another third place in her latest tournament – and again helped her team to win their event.
Hannah, 21, was an English Women’s Golf Association squad player before starting her university career. She and Jodi Ewart are both members of the LGU’s preliminary GB&I squad for the 2009 Vagliano Trophy.
Olivia Jordan-Higgins was runner-up in the Big South Women's Championship at The Patriot Golf Club, at the quaintly-named historic town of Ninety Six, South Carolina.
Olivia, 21, from Royal Jersey, is a student at Charleston Southern University. S he had scores of 75, 70 and 75 for a four-over par total and was two shots behind the winner. Her college were also runner-up in the team event.
Earlier this term, Olivia was named athlete of the week by her university and woman golfer of the week by the Big South Conference.
