Germany ‘B’ represented by Julia Kaim and Luisa Sager was the outfit to cause the biggest surprise as matters commenced at the Slovak Cadet Open in Bratislava on Friday 2nd November 2012.
They overcame top seeds, the French partnership comprising Oceane Guisnel and Eloise Saint-Dizier in the concluding opening stage group fixture to secure first place.
Mainstay of the success in a three-one win was Julia Kaim.
She accounted for both Eloise Saint-Dizier (11-8, 11-9, 11-4) and Oceane Guisnel (11-5, 9-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-7).
The one further win for the German outfit came from Luisa Sager.
In the opening match of the fixture, she overcame Oceane Guisnel (11-5, 9-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-7); meanwhile for France, the one success came in the doubles.
French Win
Oceane Guisnel and Eloise Saint-Dizier beat Julia Kaim and Luisa Sager in five games (7-11, 14-12, 11-9, 10-12, 11-3).
Main Draw Place Booked
Both teams account for the Slovak Republic outfit comprising Ema Labosova, Monika Urikova and Valentina Vancakova by three matches to nil; thus France ‘A’ finished in second place and progressed to the main draw.
Teams finishing in first and second place in each group advance to the main draw.
Top Billing, No Alarms
Second place in the group for France ‘A’ but for the other leading teams it was top billing without great alarm.
Belgium (Eline Loyen, Margo Degraef, Lisa Lung), the second seeds duly finished in first place in their group as did the next two outfits in the order of merit.
It was first place in the group for Germany ‘A’ (Lilli Eise, Jeannie Wolf, Sarah Mantz)n as it was for Russia ‘B’ (Elina Rub, Valeria Bagapova, Daria Chernoray).
