In its third successful year the Salford Aquathlon series are designed to give North West athletes training under competition conditions. The adult event involves a 750 metres two lap swim around the impressive Ontario Basin (which is parallel to the Huron and Eyrie Basins which host the swim section of the Salford BG World Cup) The Junior race is half the distance.
The swim is followed by a simple relatively flat closed path 5k run with four 1.35 K loops up to and around the back of the Lowry Theatre and back to the Water Sports Centre. North West Triathlon's regional development officer Rob Bishop also sees the event as a great way of bringing together athletes from the region in one central place with all the benefits . North West Triathlon was based at the Salford Quays Water Sports Centre Quay but Rob felt hampered by the lack of broadband at the Centre and thus the regional office has now transferred to Belle Vue Leisure Centre. To keep up with the rapid growth of the sport in the region the current North West Triathlon website is under extensive redevelopment. The new version of the website can be found here North West Tri
