Ladies, toss aside your high-heels and put on your running shoes on Sunday, 15 June as the Anlene Orchard Mile returns in 2008. This women exclusive event will have two lanes of Orchard Road closed from 7.30 am to 10 am as organisers expect some 5,000 women to run or walk a mile (1.6 kilometres) down the popular road.
The flag-off starts near Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station and ends near Orchard MRT station. The route will have participants run past the Istana, Centrepoint, Emerald Hill, Paragon and Ngee Ann City. There will be a post-event carnival where participants can get a free bone scan and be treated to other goodies and entertainment.

The event seeks to raise awareness of Osteoporosis and educate women on building strong bones from within through a sufficient calcium intake by drinking two glasses of Anlene milk everyday, coupled with weight bearing exercises such as walking 10,000 steps a day. In doing so, women will be able to enjoy the mobility and freedom to live their lives to the fullest, today and into their golden years.
There will be three race categories – the Elite Mile, the Women’s Mile and the Corporate Mile. The Elite Mile, an invitational category with a total prize pool of S$10,500 cash is open to competitive runners while the Women’s Mile is open to women of all ages and fitness levels. The Corporate Mile is targeted at corporations where participation is in teams of four or more.
