Thailand claim women’s title at Batam Asian Beach Volleyball Open
Batam, Indonesia, –Thailand’s Yupa Phokongploy and Tanarattha Udomchavee stunned their rivals to capture the women’s crown respectively in the 2nd Batam Asian Beach Volleyball Tour 2011 at Turi Beach of Batam, Indonesia on Saturday.
In the women’s showdown, second seeded Yupa Phokongploy and Tanarattha Udomchavee from Thailand upset top seeds Tatyana Mashkova and Irina Tsimbalova from Kazakhstan 21-15, 21-16 in 34 minutes in the final.
Tenth seeded China’s Ding Jingjing and Ma Yuanyuan pocketed the bronze medal following a 21-19, 21-19 win over fourth seeded Luk Tech Hua/Beh Shun Thing from Malaysia in the third-place playoff.
