Tijuana, Mexico, July 1, Ten teams grouped in three pools will compete for a place at the FIVB Women's Junior World Championship as the 2010 NORCECA Women’s Volleyball Junior Championship gets ready to kick off in Tijuana, Mexico from July 5-10. Canada, Costa Rica and Dominican Republic make up Pool A; Cuba, Puerto Rico and Trinidad & Tobago are in Pool B and El Salvador, Guadeloupe, Mexico and defending champions USA are in Pool C. All teams will be vying for regional supremacy and, more importantly, three spots at next year’s FIVB Women’s Junior World Championship in Peru. The U.S. has won the last three editions of the competitions beating the Dominican Republic each time, and have a total of four titles to their name. Cuba and Puerto Rico picked up the other two titles since the establishment of the tournament in 1998. The schedule features four daily matches at the Baja California High Performance Center Gymnasium in Tijuana, starting at 1pm local time. The two pool’s winners with the best points-ratio will advance directly to the semifinal round with the other first ranked team advancing to the quarterfinals to play against the second placed sides.
