First of four crunch home matches for Team Bath tomorrow
TeamBath take on long-time rivals Loughborough Lightning tomorrow at 5.30pm at the University’s Sports Training Village in the first of four big home matches this month in the Cooperative netball superleague.
“March is a big month for us as we seek to defend our superleague title”, said coach Jess Garland. “I’m hoping for big home crowds as it makes a huge difference to the players”.
Team Bath started the season without many of their long-time international players like Geva Mentor, Tamsin Greenway and Rachel Dunn who were attracted to the league’s new-look franchise Surrey Storm.
Garland, though, has galvanised her youthful squad into a run of seven victories from eight games to place second in the table behind Storm with a game in hand.
The reigning champions, led by captain Pamela Cookey, will need a home victory tomorrow to keep their ambitions on track.
“With Bath and Loughborough having such an academic as well as a sports-based rivalry there’s always an extra edge to our contests. The crowd certainly get behind us and I’m sure it will be a fantastic way to start our March series of top-flight matches at the Sports Training Village”, said Garland.
“Loughborough haven’t had their strongest start to a season. But we are not taking this game lightly and I am sure they will contest it strongly.
“Whilst they sit uncharacteristically in the bottom half of the table, their recent form and performance against Surrey Storm will have given the young developing Loughborough side confidence coming into this game.
“We want to make sure that we keep collecting points in the league tables whilst trying out as many combinations as we can in the process as we’ve got a new-look squad this season”.
Northumbria will be next in line for a visit to Bath in a snow-affected rescheduled match on Friday 19th March at 7.30pm after losing at home to Team Bath last week.
Hertfordshire Mavericks (22 March at 7.30pm) and Surrey Storm (28 March at 4.30pm will be the ensuing tests to finish up the month.
In between, Team Bath will take on England on March 16th at 7.30pm. All bar the England game form part of a Team Bath superleague Multiple March Magic Offer ticket deal.
Adults who buy tickets for two of the games get a £3 discount when the tickets are bought at the same time, with a £5 discount on offer if they buy tickets for three games. There are similar discounts for concessions.
“Our fans have been tremendously loyal and we’re keen to reward them with some great offers through March Multiple Magic”, said Garland.
The usual ticket price for TeamBath’s home Superleague games is £7 per game for adults and £5 for concessions. Under the TeamBath’s March Multiple Magic offer, adults can buy tickets for two games for £11 and for three games for £16. Concessions can buy tickets to two games for just £8 and tickets to three games for £11.
The March Multiple Madness packages apply for Superleague tickets purchased before Friday 12th March.
TeamBath’s game against England at the University of Bath at 7.30pm on Tuesday 16th March will give fans the chance to see the national team, featuring some of their own players in action. Tickets for that game are available at the usual Superleague ticket price of £7 for adults and £5 for concessions.
