TeamBath’s netballers are raring to ahead of tomorrow’s (Saturday) Co-operative Superleague grand final.
The team take-on last year’s champions Mavericks in a 7.30pm start at the Skydome Arena in Coventry.
TeamBath go into the game with a 100 per cent record having won all 17 of their games this season.
“Everything has gone really well in the build-up to the game and we’ve got a really determined TeamBath group,” said head coach Jess Garland
“We just want to get on with it now and get the job done. You could really sense that at our last training session last night,” she added. “I’m sure there will be some nerves on the day, but we’re used to pressure situations and everyone is really up for it.”
TeamBath go into the final with victories over Loughborough twice and Mavericks in their last three Supeleague games.
“At the end of the day Mavericks are defending champions so the pressure is on them to retain the title,” added Garland.
As TeamBath were without a Superleague game last weekend they played an England under-21 side and ran out 62-41 winners.
Naida Hutchinson has impressed in defence for Mavericks in recent weeks but Garland thinks the TeamBath shooting pair of Pamela Cookey and Rachel Dunn will prove a real handful.
“Naida has played well in the last few games and she will win ball, but we think Rachel and Pamela will give her enough to think about,” said Garland.
Cookey flies out to New Zealand on Sunday to join up with join up with LG Northern Mystics in the ANZ Championship, which gets underway this weekend.
“We’re really up for the game, and no-one more so than Pamela. She’s shown real commitment to TeamBath and it would be just reward for her if we can finish the season off the way we should do,” said Garland.
