Südtirol Dolomiti Superbike - Training course approved

Niederdorf-Villabassa (South Tyrol/Italy), 20 May 2011 - The route for the international mountain bike marathon race, "Südtirol Dolomiti Superbike" has been approved by the organisers for training purposes. The race will run in a clockwise direction this year. The staff members of the organising committee have signposted the entire course.

"The personnel have prepared everything to the best of my knowledge and belief," said OC President Kurt Ploner. As experienced in recent years, the training route was extensively utilised by many bikers prior to the event. "We appeal to the cyclists to respect nature, avoid waste and take the hikers into account."

The statement by the President of the OC is of particular importance this year since the United Nations declared 2011 as the International Year of the Forests. "We want to uphold the spirit of the UN and raise the awareness of the natural forest habitats, promote its conservation and sustainable use," said Ploner. "That's why we aim this year to place even more emphasis than usual on respecting nature".

As usual, the renowned mountain bike race has two routes available for the participants to choose from: The long distance of over 110 kilometres at 3357 meters altitude and the shorter one of 60 kilometres at 1591 meters.

Südtirol Dolomiti Superbike will take place this year on Saturday July 9. It was necessary to bring the race forward as the "Maratona dles Dolomites" is being held on the Sunday. The popular children's race "Dolomiti Super Junior Bike Race" was shifted to Sunday 10 July.
The organizers expect some 3,600 participants from 30 nations. Registration is still possible until 7 July. The price also includes a ?10 deposit for the transponder. Online registrations, qualify for a ?5 discount.
