The four-day camp at the Cricket Australia Centre of Excellence will be the final time the squad meets before the series in Darwin from 19-29 July.
Under the guidance of acting head coach Cathryn Fitzpatrick, the former Australia fast bowler who retired from international cricket in March, squad members will receive expert advice from some of Australia’s leading coaches over the course of the weekend.
“The players are looking forward to getting together for the first time since the new squad was announced in April,” Fitzpatrick said.
“There are six changes to the squad this year, so the camp will be a great experience for the new faces, especially those who have been promoted from the Commonwealth Bank Shooting Stars program.
“We’ve been able to assemble a talented and diverse mix of coaches for the camp and the players are excited at the prospect of receiving advice from some of the world’s most respected cricketing mentors.”
New Australia men’s coach Tim Nielsen, as well as Troy Cooley, Terry Jenner and Ian Healy will be among those conducting intensive specialist skills sessions with the 18-player squad.
Media interested in attending the following sessions, should contact team manager Claire Connolly on 0417 273 136.
Training Camp Skills Sessions
Friday 8 June: 3.00pm-5.00pm (Nielsen, Jenner)
Saturday 9 June: 10.30am-12.30pm (Healy, Jenner, Cooley)
After the completion of the camp, Australian selectors will announce a 13-woman Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars team to contest the Top End Series. The series will contain a Twenty20 international and a five-match one-day international Rose Bowl Series against New Zealand’s White Ferns.
The last time Australia and New Zealand met was earlier this year in a quadrangular one-day international tournament in India, with the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars victorious by six wickets over the world No.3 in the final.
The training camp will be held at the Cricket Australia Centre of Excellence, 1 Bogan St, Breakfast Creek, QLD.
