Australia is through to the Women's World T20 final after an eight-run win over the West Indies in Dhaka.
The breakthrough moment came in the 19th over of the West Indies' chase when Deandra Dottin holed out, well caught on the fence by Erin Osborne for 40.
Until that point, the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars' title defence had looked in danger as Dottin and Stacy-Ann King put on 73 runs for the third wicket.
Dottin's dismissal left West Indies requiring 20 runs off the final nine balls. That equation became 14 from six but King and captain Merissa Aguilleira could only manage singles from the first three balls. Aguilleira then skied a catch and Australia was able to close out the match.
Alyssa Healy was perhaps the most relieved of the Southern Stars after missing a stumping opportunity from the first ball of the 18th over when King was on 24. Osborne, the unlucky bowler, finished with match figures of 1-18 from her four overs to earn the player of the match award.
The wicketkeeper, who had partner Mitchell Starc watching on from the stands, the last man standing from the men's team's ill-fated campaign, had done her duty with the bat, her late-innings power-hitting propelling Australia to 5-140.
Healy, dropped down the order for this match, hit 30 from 21 balls to add some late impetus to an innings that at times stuttered with the loss of regular wickets.
The Southern Stars made one change to their line-up for the semi-final, bringing in Julie Hunter to replace Holly Ferling. They also tinkered with their line-up, promoting Jonassen to open the batting and make a left- and right-handed opening combination, which meant usual opener Healy came in at No.7.
Jonassen's inclusion backfired on Australia, run out for five from 11 balls. Her partner, however, was in great nick. Elyse Villani top scored for Australia with 35, hitting seven boundaries along the way.
Captain Meg Lanning continued her form and looked comfortable in racing to 29, but a bottom-edge onto her boot ricocheted onto her stumps.
The Southern Stars will play the winner of the second semi-final between England and South Africa in the final on Sunday in Dhaka.
